Boston Dynamics and FieldAI announced a partnership on 12 March 2026 from Waltham and Irvine. Spot, Boston Dynamics’ quadruped, will run FieldAI’s Field Foundation Models so the robot can work in uncharted, changing spaces - construction sites first. Stretch and electric Atlas were named as later targets.
Marc Raibert, founder of Boston Dynamics, said his team has known Ali Agha since Agha’s group won the urban circuit of the DARPA Subterranean Challenge on Spot robots. Combining FieldAI’s risk-aware autonomy with Spot’s mobility, he said, opens environments that were previously off-limits to robots.
The announcement cites inspection and documentation time down more than 90 percent versus manual walks, the same figure DPR published in Santa Clara. FieldAI said it would expand Spot deployments in the following months, which would make it one of the largest third-party quadruped fleets. DPR had already been running FieldAI on Spot for about eighteen months before the press release.
